Doctors Medical Center (formerly Brookside Hospital) has been teetering on the brink of bankruptcy since before 1997. In June of this year, we voted and passed Measure D — the parcel tax measure that is keeping our hospital’s doors open. Now it is critical that we elect West Contra Costa Healthcare District Directors on November 2 who will protect and leverage our investment.

Healthcare is in a state of crisis. Hospitals throughout California are closing at an alarming rate and quality care is not affordable for many families. With the help of Measure D and effective leadership, Doctors Medical Center has a window of opportunity to improve services for all the residents of West County.
Success requires new leaders who can fundamentally change the way the healthcare district does business.
For the past 25 years, Susan Swift has provided strategic marketing, community relations and organizational development services to nonprofit and public agencies, including six years in the Contra Costa County Health Services Department.
As your representative for the West Contra Costa Healthcare District, Susan will focus on three key issues:
1. Fiscal stewardship.
2. Quality services.
3. Responsive communications.
